Ski lift gondola. Snowmobile. Dog sled. Helicopter. Snowshoes. Two-horse open sleigh. Horseback. What do all of these have in common? They are all modes of transportation! While not commonly seen around Staten Island (although President Obama did come by helicopter for his post-Sandy visit), they are used for practical transportation around the world. And they can all be experienced where this post is being written – Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. (In truth, here these are mostly tourist attractions rather than a way to actually get somewhere, but you get the drift).
And of course, the sturdy bicycle has a place here as well. With the right tires and the right clothing for the rider, a bike can be used virtually year round in virtually any climate. In fact, the share of bike commuting to work is twice as high in Canada as in the USA!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, everyone!
